I've never been afraid to try things, so when I decided to paint, I tried many different mediums until I found my love for pastels. Making art and connecting it to people who find joy in it feels like something that's been waiting for me for a long time. There is nothing quite like an original piece of art that has somehow called to you to call it home, and each day that I paint, each piece I create, I imagine who it's meant for.
I live in Saint Petersburg, Florida, where I moved in 2019 after a long career of executive coaching for major corporations and non-profits around the world. Since retiring from that work, I now spend my days painting or traveling to get more photo references for future projects.
I've found that my best work is capturing the skies, streets, wildlife, and wonder of my surroundings, whether it's on the beach, in the mangroves, or on the streets of the city. If it inspires me, I'll paint it.
I tend to live from a "must" rather than "maybe" mindset, so I typically don't start a painting that I'm not wild about to begin with. That includes commissioned work in portraits or landscapes: if there's a great story behind it, something about it that moves me, I'll be able to do it justice.
